On February 24, 2012, Scarborough Softball
Association voted unanimously to amalgamate youth softball in
Scarborough under its banner while continuing to work with the adult
leagues in the area.
This is the culmination of several years of work looking at how best to
bring a new energy to softball in Scarborough. A long history, with a
strong presence, exists in Scarborough of many leagues in the youth as
well as adult arena. Softball is a sport for life that many continue to
play for several decades. There has been a significant growth in the
adult area over the last ten years.
By amalgamating the youth programs into one association, Scarborough
Softball, will provide opportunities to streamline operations and
establish an improved program. The newly formed Scarborough Dragons have
been established which will strive to bring this sport back to the whole
of Scarborough. Softball provides an activity at a reasonable cost for
youth, both boys and girls, to get physically active while developing
sportsmanship, teamwork, and building skills; all while having fun. This
amalgamation is intended to build numbers and skill to a level where a
competitive level program will also be possible. Registration is now
open and more information is available at the website:
